How are you ladies today??? I'm feeling STRESSED.

I know that my heavy upcoming schedule is fueling this stress. It was important to me to write it all down. To kind of set it in front of me and acknowledge it. I am going to have to take serious measures, namely meditation, to calm down and get through all of this in one peice. Either that, or i will gain 30 lbs by the time i'm through with it all in November. This is not an acceptable option to me, but something that could likely happen should i not detach emotionally from the stress of it all and get my eating back in control.

I did well with my food for 1/2 of the day yesterday. It was a work day. I would have been thrilled had the day continued as the first half of the day: Green smoothies with no dates, nori wraps with no salt, no avo. At some point, i started eating the raw living bread, and then it went to pot. 10 peices later and a fat raw chocolate bar and a raw vegan pizza and more raw bread and nutcheeze.

I declined to weigh myself this morning since it would have been rubbing salt in an already huge wound. I just have to look in the mirror to know how i'm doing. Bloaty bloat bloat.

I keep telling myself this morning, "I can lose 12 lbs in 4 days by juicing". (I've already done that once.) And keep saying to myself, "it's not REAL weight. It's all dehydrated stuff in my gut, and lots of salt."

Some kind of a cleanse or a fast would help me get back in balance. It wouldn't necessarily SOLVE the binge issue, but i would feel better. I wonder if it would exacerbate the binge issue at this point??? You know, fall off and binge even worse???

Fairburn says gaining weight itself can trigger more binge eating and weight gain. Do i REALLY want this to snowball??? Do i do a fast and get rid of the weight quickly as i've done in the past? Kind of like a restorative cleanse ala the kind raw foodists do all of the time.

Or do i just hanker down. Eat when i'm hungry. Eat what pleases me. Write it down. Be sure not to overeat. Exercise. Make peace with the weight gain. Try to mozy on ahead. ???

Which approach do i take?????

Stress Relief
I had a great singing practice last night. I'm on a good roll with this, thank god. I sang through the first half of the opera and it's coming back to me more and more. Vocally, much of it feels "connected," "grounded" in my body, and good. Some of it is troublesome. I will work out the kinks soon enough, but am feeling good about the progress i am making.

I know that the more and more i work on the opera, the less and less i'll be stressed.

I think my nervous system is just on overload and it is fueling the eating. Yes, i have to get back to taking serious measures to keep it in check. Either a smoothie fast or a juice fast or 80-10-10 or just commit to moderate eating, writing my food down or planning my meals or something. I must get back in control for ME, for the sake of my voice and my upcoming performances.

I will begin writing my food down again. Today. Promise. Don't know which approach seems right.

RAW SPIRIT FEST!!!
For God's sake, i had not even MENTIONED i was traveling to the RAW SPIRIT FEST to speak and sing. This has been so unconscious, but something that is truly worrying me. I mean, i'm supposed to have overcome all of this!!! I'm supposed to be a success story!

The fact is, i'm not perfect, far from it. But SO MUCH BETTER. You think this is bad??? Ha. You should have been there when it was 6 hamburgers and 6 fries and 6 cokes and desserts and fried chicken and tacos...all within one hour in one sitting.

This is actually HUGE IMPROVEMENT!!! I'm still maintaining a humongous weight loss and have never had this kind of success with my weight before. I mentioned it before, but i'll mention it again. I used to have to gain 100+ lbs back before i even REALIZED it was time to get back in control. So, i am being sincerely honest when i say that i am so much better.

I'm not where i want to be, but thank god, i'm not where i used to be.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Well, much more to say as always, but time to walk.

Third day in a row. That's good at least.

No, stop. Alot is good. I'm doing good things. I need to acknowledge that. I write. I do jobs. I work. I cleaned the tub and the bathmat and both A/C filters this morning. I did the dishes last night. I did like 4 loads of laundry. I had a good 1/2 day at work foodwise. I walk. I sang a good practice. I'm not a complete disaster.

I will get the food in order and i will make the upcoming months the successes that they deserve to be!!! The better in control i am, the better my work/performance will be. The better i am, the more I can inspire others to do better.

Thanks for listening. Thanks for being there for me.

TODAY's food/activity

I'm so happy...i gained 10 lbs!!!

Hiya, ladies,

This has been a hard week. But, what am i gonna do, mope about it?

I just got back from my second walk in 2 days. I didn't want to go this morning, and connected with that and verbalized it, "Cliff, i'm going for a walk right now...and i'm NOT happy about it!!" But i did it. I know intellectually it will help, but emotionally, i wasn't so sure, before i left. Now that i did it, I'm feeling more hopeful.

Yesterday's walk didn't budge the scale, i was 262 yesterday as well, and i have been absolutely demoralized, depressed, discouraged about a 10 lb weight gain.

My fingers are all bloated up right now, so i know it's a lot of salt, and nothing i haven't confronted before, but still, it's something i don't really wish to be having to deal with right now. It's embarrassing, it's regrettable. But, this is the way it is.

I didn't realize how much stress i've been under.

I'm singing in Mozart's Don Giovanni in about 4 weeks and am struggling with my confidence that i can have my role re-memorized within these next two weeks before rehearsals begin. After the first rehearsal, i have 2 weeks until the performance. Depending on how my practice sessions go, my confidence level fluxuates.

Intellectually, i know there is enough time to relearn the role, but I think emotionally, I'm stressed.

My schedule was such that i ended up eating gourmet almost constantly for 5 days in a row, and not exercising consistently. I also overate the gourmet, and my body is not happy, at all.

I rarely talk about the emotions that lead to overeating, honestly because I thought i've been doing well coping emotionally, i thought, unless i'm completely delusional, which i very might well be. But, now, I have MUCH MORE on my plate over the next month, an opera performance, a possible catering job, social dates galore, and my poor stress management skils are beginning to show in my feelings of total overwhelm and in my weight gain.

I thought I've been able to manage my diet pretty well with changing my thinking or adjusting my way of thinking about my diet, and that has helped keep me in line, until now. Now i feel lost, but i'm trying to figure out a game plan. In the midst of all of this, I'm overwhelmed and under stress. The house, the renovations, the opera, bookings for raw food private classes, the blog, the emails, work. I just keep thinking back to that blissful week in Ohio where i walked alot, exercised alot, ate 'normally', even overate an entire block of cheese and came home to have not gained any weight.

Now, this week...what the hell happened? This week I feel like a complete diet failure. I ate salty fatty things from morning til night and didn't exercise regularly. As an overview, i recall, I felt little hunger eating because i wasn't hungry. I was just eating. And twice i made food for raw food parties and that entailed tasting early in the morning, and the tastes became my salty fatty breakfasts, and then i wasn't hungry for the lunch i had prepared for friends, but ate it anyway. No, fatty salty nutspreads are not ideal breakfast food, at least for me, when i'm more sedentary. Things just kind of never had the chance to...calm down, food wise or busy-wise. I've been on the go, go, go, go. I feel like i need another vacation. Just to recoup.

I weighed myself yesterday and it was frightening. 10 lbs. I have to say, i'm not happy about gaining weight. I can see it, i can actually see it in the mirror. If i can see it, others can definitely see it. In Fairburn's book "Overcoming Binge Eating," he notes that just gaining weight can trigger binge eating. I get this. It's emotionally really horrid to have to show your problems to the world.

And I haven't even been binge eating.

But i've certainly been in a lot of fear, embarrassment, dread, regret about having gained. The last time i saw my friends, Tim and Leslie, I had broken 250 and was 80-10-10ing. I was GLOWING! My visit with them on Sunday consisted of me overeating gourmet after a gourmet tasting breakfast and falling asleep on their couch. When one's body is on overload, the body says, "I need a rest, stop feeding me!" Nuts can knock you out on your butt if you're on overload.

But, in one week, gaining 10 lbs? I don't even really think what i ate warranted that severe a weight gain, but I am prone to weight gain, prone to hold water as we know, and didn't exercise daily, and ate from pleasure instead of hunger most of the time over the last days.

I spoke in an earlier post about not wanting to 'diet' anymore, i suppose to me that dieting has become 80-10-10ing. But instead i want to learn how to control the foods i like, gourmet raw in moderation. i think it's such a great goal. But, obviously ENORMOUSLY challenging for me.

Even yesterday, after i weighed myself, i said, 'okay, today is the kind of day where i just have to seek repair and restitution, and re-establish some serious de-bloat, take some serious anti-reflux and candida measures, and get back in balance. Now is the time when 80-10-10ing makes perfect sense to me.'

I drank green smoothies all day. And then i was hungry. And gave into having a moderate gourmet meal of 1 bag of Brad's raw chips. Okay, i thought. I can get through this. I was hungry. I did it. But i walked over an hour this morning. I'll be fine. Then for dinner, i made zucchini spaghetti with lofat sunflower seed sauce, but was hungry and yearning for something. That something turned out to be 2 oz of raw cheese, 3 arnolds way raw bread crackers and a small peice of chocolate pie.

Apparently, the one hour walk did NADA to the weight gain.

Eating gourmet in moderation, with daily long walks, burning it up and maintaining my weight and even losing is an absolute pleasure. I did this in Ohio. What the hell happened???

My hope was to get my eating habits in control and to lose weight sort of naturally, organically, without being fanatically 80-10-10.

But this? I've been waking up with daily with reflux and i have a slight yeast infection again, I'm bloated and 10+ lbs heavier.

Needless to say, this is not my idea of pure raw joy. And even while i was eating all of this gourmet food, i wasn't really enjoying it, so even eating it wasn't pure raw joy. Eating when i'm hungry and stopping when i've had enough leads to pure raw joy.

I work again today and that worries me. I am known to go on gourmet overload there. What will i do today?

I know this: I'm worth it. I deserve to feel better. It would be beneficial to me if I could do no salt very low fat for a few days and get back in balance. I would really like this. Perhaps if i get very centered, very spiritual, very detached emotionally from all of this, the spirit can lead me and take control where i have no control. Let go, Let God.

I came up with a hypothesis this morning. The body wants to be in balance. When it's working well and in balance, we can sometimes getting away with eating high fat or even salty foods and suffer no apparent consequences.

There are other times, however, when the body becomes sorely out of balance. We've overloaded on fat or on salt and there is nothing to do but reestablish balance by severely limiting these items. Fairburn's book would say this was dieting. Is it? I have reflux every day now. I can't sing with reflux. I know i'm under stress, and under stress i want to be calm and eat calming fatty foods, but i can't do this if i want to sing well and have good practice sessions.

Sometimes you just have to leave the experts out of it and listen to your body and ask God to lead.

I MUST remind myself that getting out of control in just a week and seeking to regain control within that weeks time is fabulous improvement. I used to have to gain 100 lbs back before i'd get back in control.

I need to get back to writing my food down. Calming down. Even planning my meals. Today i 'll need your loving thoughts and well wishes. I gotta get back in balance. I don't feel or look well.

Help.

Much love to you all,

xoxo michelle

Fun with Eve, Jeff & Aaron

Scenes from Nature, The amazing Edwards home, Dinner and Fun!

This Sun ornament greets you on their beautiful deck out back and is only one of many nature themed visuals in their home.

A neon tree on the living room wall finally fulfilled Eve's lifelong desire for something neon, but also says that this is a place where 'nature' is respected and revered.

Eve has a wonderful herbal garden, of which this is just one box. Cliff and I sampled 6 kinds of mint!, thyme, basil, oregano, dill, and several more! Amazing! There are also tomatoes and cucumbers growing on the porch and lots more wonderful edible plants!

A walkway leads right into the woods that surround their property for all of the hiking you could ever imagine...right in the backyard!

A beautiful self built coy pond with 3 big giant coyfish in the prettiest colors with nature oriented names. I remember 'Mercury' was one..., and one big fat goldfish that came from a goldfish bowl, and now just continues to grow and grow!

Rrribbit! Rrribbit! We spotted three big frogs in the coy pond! Frogs help keep the bug population low on the property as well.

A cicada shell that Aaron, Eve and Jeff's son, loves to collect. You can find them all over the property! OOky!!!

Say HI to Aaron! What a lucky boy to be raised by such health conscious and nature loving parents on such a wondrous property!

Say HI to Eve, the wonderful singer/natural chef/natural mom! Cliff and I received such a nice tour of the property by Eve and Jeff, had such a wonderful dinner and had such fun and relaxation later. This is Eve right next to the coy pond!

This solar panel on top of the roof heats their well water!

A view of the side of the house where one sees two strange boxes on either side of the window. That's where the bats live!!!! These are bat houses that Jeff and Eve built! We were not lucky enough to see them flying around later...!!!! ooooky!!!!

Jeff Edwards and Cliff enjoying raw hors d'oeuvres on the deck!

Raw cows milk cheese with yellow tomatoes!

Brad's Raw Chedder Chips, and some Arnolds Way Green Livin' Bread! Great for dippers or cheese!

A raw cashew 3 pepper pate' I made. Why can i never remember to shoot the picture BEFORE everyone digs in??? We finished almost the whole bowl, so I think it turned out really good! Red peppers, jalapeno peppers and light green peppers blended with cashews and white onion, a little raw vinegar, celtic salt and agave. A real winner!

A wonderful vegetable salad Eve whipped up with all farm fresh organic or nearly organic local produce that she purchases from an area farm. She buys NOTHING in a regular supermarket. All of her meats are organic grass fed farm raised free range no steroid no hormone.

Even the butter is organic from grass fed cows!

A local watermelon, bright red, juicy, seedless, so delish!

The raw chocolate pie i made. This turned out really really well...and almost by accident! But a chef never reveals her foibles...!!!! Nah, i can't keep a secret. I put avocado, cacao, agave, vanilla and olive oil in the chocolate pudding. My olive oil is SO olivey and almost ruined the pie filling. I just had to keep adding cacao and more cacao and more cacao. You know what? It came out even better for the foible! There is a pecan coconut crust and it is topped with vanilla cashew cream. A super duper winner!

Wow, I tried my first taste of raw milk. It IS delicious!

Jeff and Cliff enjoying the amazing pool that Jeff and Eve had built onto their enclosed floating deck. Jeff and Eve really know how to LIVE, how to EAT, how to ENJOY life! This is an indoor pleasure palace, a continuous motion pool and a sauna!!!! I can't believe i forgot to get a picture of the sauna! What a wonderful time we had at their home!

Eve Edwards, an amazingly gifted opera soprano colleague of mine, and her husband Jeff, and son Aaron were our wonderful hosts Saturday night for an evening of healthy good food, food and nature-focused talk, fun and relaxation!

The evening was spent in the Edwards' amazing home in Schwenksville, PA, outside of Collegeville. Their home is set back far, far into the woods and not a neighbor or clue of other civilization is apparent from their property. All one sees are endless trees, and all one hears is a plethora of nature and wildlife sounds...birds chirping, leaves rustling, frogs rrribbiting. All of these and many other forms of wildlife happily call the Edwards property their dwelling. Cicadas, grasshopper-like locusts, like to leave their shells after shedding all over the property. And Aaron, Eve and Jeff's adorable son, loves to collect these! Cicadas, we were told, make quite a racket shedding and doing their daily business as well. Bats keep the bug population in check on the property, so Eve and Jeff built bat houses for the bats to sleep in!!! There are frogs in the coypond as well as big colorful coy and one giant goldfish. Eve and Jeff built the coy pond themselves, and a greenhouse, as well! Mice like to take over the bird houses and lots of other critters, including snakes, make the Edwards property a lively place! Rusalke, their beloved 'old girl', a mix of shepherd, coyote and husky, make her grand entrance, but i couldn't snap a picture of her.....
There is amazing hiking on their acres and acres of wooded property and lots more wildlife to be found there, for sure!

After a tour of the amazing house and property, which includes an indoor swimming pool, and sauna!!!!!!, we enjoyed a wonderful meal of not only raw items, but consciously chosen local organic or near organic produce, organic butter from grass fed cows, raw organic milk, organic farm raised no hormone no steroid chicken and local corn. I ate my corn raw and passed the chicken to everyone else! I have a feeling if i would eat chicken, THIS is the kind I would want to eat. Eve says, "I can only take half credit for the chicken coming out so well. The Cornell Catering recipe is a coveted secret that i discovered on the internet...but it's the chicken...it actually tastes like chicken and not like rubber. I would NEVER eat supermarket chicken EVER again!"

Dinner Menu at the Edwards Home!
-Raw Cheddar Cheese, Organic yellow tomatoes & Arnolds Way Organic Raw Flax Crackers
-Michelle's Raw Three Pepper Cashew Pate & Brads Raw Chedder Chips
-Cornell Catering Famous Grilled Chicken (i didn't eat)
-Roasted Corn on the cob (i had mine raw)
-Chunky Raw Veggie Salad with simple lemon vinaigrette
-Watermelon
-Michelle's Raw Insanely Chocolate Pudding Pie (wow!)
-Amazing Cabernet Sauvignon Wine, Beer for Cliff and Jeff...and tastes of real raw milk. Wow!

Eve is a self confessed 'foodie' (a food network junkie like me) who seriously CARES about the quality of what she and her family eats. Friday is the shopping day for the Edwards family at the Willow Creek Orchards in Collegeville. www.willowcreekorchards.com Willow Creek Orchards have a marvelous farmers market, all natural meats and dairy, they even sell 'Awesome Foods' raw to go meals and make banana whips and smoothies! I thought Arnolds Way was the only place to get banana whips!!! Eve purchases only the best foods for her family, and let me tell you, you can TASTE the difference! The tomatoes in the salad actually tasted like tomatoes!!!

Eve is going to be my recruit if i ever open up a raw restaurant!!! This lady knows what's GOOD!!!

Regaining Control...on a Raw Food Weekend

Hiya Folks,

I'm actually in a crappy mood, but i'm trying to mentally talk myself out of it!

I'll do a quick overview of what's causing the crappy mood rather succinctly because the more i talk about it, i fear, the worse i'll feel. Suffice it to say, physically, i'm feeling unwell, extremely bloated, mucousy and hoarse. Why? For the last two days at work, I ate a lot of salty, nutty things, not waiting for hunger. Just kinda havin' fun. Well, it don't feel so fun right now.

I did take the betaine, but, you know, that whole routine seemed to work like a charm when i exercised and was burning up the food. I overdid it overeating and without exercise, the whole internal digestive system becomes a mess.

As i have mentioned, there seems to have been a dynamic change in the way i eat at work. This has still held true. What hasn't held up so well the last two days is the newfound control i gained, where i was so in tune, checking in, waiting for hunger, eating sitting, feeling and doing generally great, really overcoming my binge and overeating issues.

So, if i spin this in a positive light, I can say that this slip backwards....is now an amazing opportunity to work on my healthy eating habits again next time i work!

For now, it's just time to repair and move on.

For repair, i will wait until i am hungry to eat. I will not overeat. I will drink alot of fluids to help flush the system. I will exercise now. I will not 'diet' as much as i'd like to. I might if it were a different weekend, but i have two dates for raw gourmet lunches over this weekend. It is God's way of saying i need to learn how to control this food, eat small portions and get my body back to digesting better.

As for exercise, yesterday, I was busy chosing to do dishes and practice my opera role and never did make it out for my walk. We all make choices. We all suffer the consequences of those choices.

This morning, Cliff and i are going to return to our team-exercise routine. He gets on his bike and takes off, and i go for a walk. We cellphone each other and meet up somewhere for a cooling drink. It's so nice to have a goal of a kiss and an iced tea. I feel happier already!

Tonight we are driving to Schwenksville to the home of our friends, Eve and Jeff, opera singer friends of mine, and their adorable son, Evan. It promises to be a lovely day today weather wise, so we are bringing our swimsuits for an evening dip in their pool. For dinner it will be a test of moderation for me. We will have many raw gourmety items. I'm making a raw chocolate pie, some kind of yummy pate, i have raw crackers already, i'll bring a block of the raw cheese, (I haven't had any for days), and i'll bring dressing fixings. Eve will supplement with cooked items for Cliff and her family and some raw salads, and we'll have a big feast. We'll see how i am with the mucous if i chose to have any of the cheese.

I'm particularly concerned about the mucous i woke up with (and the hoarseness, a symtom of reflux laryngitis) from overdoing nuts/salt because i sing an opera rehearsal in about 17 days, and 2 weeks after that is the performance. If i take care of myself well, daily, until then, and get this body system functioning better as it was, move the food through me and respond to hunger better, i should be fine. The mucous will recede, the reflux laryngitis will stop. I need to be practicing vocally daily for this opera. If I do like i did the last 2 days, without exercise, waking up mucousy and hoarse, overeating at work and eating extremely salty foods when i'm not hungry, i will get myself sick in a matter of days and probably will come down with some kind of a cold, which would be the body's way of saying it needed a rest. That would be an opportunity for rest, but bad for my rehearsal period because an opera singer can't sing when they're sick. So, i have to get myself well.

On Sunday, we have another raw event. Lunch with our crazy wonderful friends, Tim and Leslie Arnold. I have mentioned them many a time on this blog. They are serious new runners. Never were, but now are. They are in their 50's and just raw about a year. They are incredibly inspiring. Tim runs at least 10 miles a day now and Leslie usually about 5. Tim's lost 145 lbs, amazing, and Leslie, is so tiny and petite now. She's lost 30 and is a petite little thing. They are tan, raw forces of nature, just unstoppable. So, we'll have lunch together at their place. It will be an all raw meal for Cliff and me. I'll bring some pate' and i'd like to make a zucchini salad and bring that along, Leslie will have raw bread and her amazingly famous blueberry pie, and then we'll go to see the new Meryl Streep film about Julia Child, "Julia and Julie." Excited for that! I hope Cliff likes it.... ??

Many blessings to all of you. We'll just keep truckin' on. There are bad days. There are good days. But at any moment, we can choose to turn things around. A new choice is only a second's decision away. now. or now. or now. or now. At any moment, we can decide not to react to what was, get discouraged and depressed and do worse. We can choose to make better decisions. Do something good for ourselves. Stop feeling sorry for ourselves. And actually get better. Turning our mental or emotional state around is as easy as recognizing we feel bad, and watching it, from the inside, until the observation makes it dissappear. In that state we are being non-reactive, and in that state, we can move on in our lives....live NOW...and stop living in the past...reacting. It's a beautiful thing.

Betaine HCL and Happy to Reconnect with YOU!!!

Good morning, Ladies,

How are you all?

Here's me in my car the other day.

Oh, you can see my bad eye in this pic. I'm legally blind in my left eye (on your right in this pic) and i've had surgeries to straighten the eye, but the last surgery made my eye stick out further. It really upsets me. Hopefully, some day i can get it corrected. I try not to think about it too much.

EXERCISING OUR RIGHT TO EXERCISE
Cliff is still asleep and i head off to work soon. It is so ooky outside, the weather in Philly has been awful for days. Perhaps i will take a walk anyway. My right knee has been bothering me, because i have not walked in about 3 or 4 days. I've been overwhelmed, busy, but mostly, unmotivated. Walking is the kind of thing no one wants to do. The thing about walking is, though, that the more you DO do it, the more you WANT to do it and FEEL like doing it and ENJOY it. My friend, Susan, said something the other day about how doing exercise is so amazing because the more you do, the more energy you have and the more you want to do. It is so true. Plus, everything works better when we exercise. Digestion, for one. Weight loss, for another. When we have and retain more muscle mass, we can eat more, because our bodies become 'better butter burners'. I'm gonna go walk. I've kinda hyped myself and got myself excited for it. I need it.

EATING HABITS ARE HABITS THAT NEED TO BE RETRAINED AND MONITORED CONSTANTLY

Work yesterday was not great, foodwise. There is still no return of the panic-laden, frantic, anxious binge eating, thank god, but i did not sit for my meals, snacked somewhat, ate when i wasn't hungry, and ate some nama shoyu.

- NAMA SHOYU VERY HIGH IN SODIUM
(I try to avoid because of the astronomical sodium content and the wheat. It tends to blow me up. 1 tsp of nama shoyu has almost 1000 mg of sodium, compared to 2 Tbsp of nutritional yeast which have 5 mg of sodium.)

- NEGATIVE HEAD TALK PRODUCES NEGATIVE RESULTS

I also felt a return of some negative food voices in my head, which i've not encountered for a while and it disturbed me. I don't know exactly what i heard in my head but it was something like it was bad for me to be eating so much and that i'm hopeless or something. I haven't been feeling that way lately so it was really startling to feel/hear that voice again.

I suppose all in all, if we don't keep our eating habits in check, they degrade and bad habits return. Negative self talk is one of the bad habits associated with food that will sneak up on you if you don't keep it in check.

-GOALS TODAY
My goal at work today is to eat when i'm hungry, enjoy my meals seated, not snack (eating standing for pleasure or to get rid of something...just throw it out), and feel good about me and food. Rome wasn't built in a day and everyone is going to have setbacks now and again. We work our way through. We learn. We move on.

-WORK THE SECRET TO GAIN CONTROL OF NEGATIVE HEAD TALK
My dear friend and beloved coworker, Megan, is really into the Secret now. What a little blessing she is. I just love my "Megabites"! She reminded me yesterday the power of the spoken word. We have to say positive things to ourselves to acheive positive things. RIGHT ON MEGABITES!!! I'm excited I get to work with Megan today. We can work on attracting good things into our lives today with positive talk and energy! Megan wantst to lead a monthly Secret class at her apartment in Perkasie. I'll be there!!!

-WEEKLY WEIGH IN

I've not weighed myself this week yet, i will on Tuesday, but my face looks a little bloated. I've not been walking. You know how these things go. When it's all working, it's all working. When things start to slip, they start to slip. Time to get back on the program! Walking, better eating habits all contribute to weight loss or to just maintaining my weight. As Martha says, "It's a good thing!"

BETAINE HCL

I've continued the Betaine HCL, and even talked with a customer, Jayne, about it yesterday. It's like the magic cure for me. I'd read about it in Victoria Boutenko's book, "Green for Life." She mentioned that if you experience hairloss, brittle nails...and something else...you may have what is referred to as "LOW STOMACH ACID." Meaning, your stomach acid is weak and not potent enough to digest your food, meaning you don't get enough nutrition...and hair and nails will be an issue. She suggests taking Betaine HCL and if there is improvement, sticking with it, and also drinking green smoothies and juices.

-THINNING HAIR
Well, since i've always had thinning hair since high school, this really perked up my ears. I began taking it when i was in the midst of suffering for over a year, probably closer to a year and a half with the most painful hemmorhoids i developed immediately after going raw and which plagued for the first year and a half of being raw. I think it may have been a detox symptom, not sure, or just an inability to digest heavier raw foods.

-CANDIDA
So, I began to take the Betaine for the thinning hair...and wouldn't you know it, within 30 minutes, i kid you not, the hemmorhoid pain, which had plaqued me daily and sometimes so excruciating i had to take a pain reliever for it, magically dissappeared. I was eating a lot of nuts at the time, and really doing compulsive snacking at Arnolds Way. That is so bad for the digestion. And obviously, supplementing with a powerful enzyme, like Betaine, raised the level of my weak stomach acid so that i could digest the heavy foods (nuts, raw bread) i was snacking on continually. How this affected a hemmorhoid...or the pain it caused, i do not understand. But obviously, the hemmorhoid was related to my inability to digest what i was overeating.

-HELPS DIGEST TOO MUCH FAT OR NUTS
So, to this day, i will take Betaine whenever i eat something nutty or fatty and it helps me digest. Well, i'll forget for a while...and stop. But i usually find myself running back. I know again it's working because i no longer have any hemmorhoids or hemmorhoid pain, thank god, which can flare up if i overeat nuts and don't take it, and i don't wake up with terrible reflux laryngitis if i overeat nuts like i do if i don't take it, and i'm not getting the yeast infections anymore, thank god. I never really put 2 and 2 together about the yeast infections. But, it's helping that, removing that, too.

I guess the problem is essentially overeating nuts and if i didn't do that i wouldn't need the supplement. But, oh, well, i'm not quite there yet. Like I said, Rome was not built in a day.

But, i mean, on a practical level of helping all of these issues, can you say MAGIC CURE ALL????
ARTICLE ON BETAINE
Here's an interesting article if you'd like to read more about Betaine HcL. http://www.modernherbalist.com/betaine.html

You can find it at Whole Foods and most Health Food stores. The article explains how to take Betaine. I have experienced burning in my stomach upon taking it, when i first started, but i continued and jeez, sometimes i take 2 or 3 times the final suggested dose mentioned in the article.

It might be something that could work for you. It's mentioned in some other articles that Betaine HCL is helpful for candida (it is!) and for protein and fat digestion. HELLO!!!

PEASOUP WALKIES
Well, i suppose if i'm going to, i'd better get going on my walkies, but i'm not too thrilled about it, because it looks like pea soup out there, really foggy misty humid warm weather. argh. wish me luck.

HAPPY TO RECONNECT - LOVE TO YOU ALL

You know, I'm happy to connect with you again on this level. I miss you when i don't get a chance to purge my soul about how my food and weight are doing. It feeds me to connect in this way and helps me stay on track. i'd love to hear from you. Some of you, i really miss. Shawna1707 moved to a new apartment...and we've lost touch since. If you are reading my dear, please check in, i miss you!

Blessings on your journey, and please let me know if I can ever be of any assistance.

She also works as a Lab technician at Merck. And with all of this tradtional Western medical training and employment, you would think Angela would be anti-raw food, but she is LOVING raw food, taking part in the fun raw food movement, and living with Arnold. Arnold says she is the BEST roommate. She gladly drinks the green smoothies he makes for her DAILY, and she loves them!!
